Charles Ray Barton

Charles Ray Barton, age 82, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed from this life on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Winnfield.

Born on Monday, November 23, 1942, in Packton, Louisiana, Charles was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish. He was a retired foreman with Winn Veneer Plant and also worked for many years, until it's closing, at Parkway Drive-In. However, he will be best remembered as a devoted family man and a fisherman at heart. Whether casting a line or sharing a laugh with his loved ones, Charles cherished the simple joys of life. The Christmas season held a special place in his heart, particularly the cherished tradition of gathering with his family on Christmas Eve.

He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Barton; mother, Edna White Barton; brothers, Elton Johnson, Billy Barton, and Roy Barton; great-granddaughters, Reagan and Riley Hall; and great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Tucker.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 64 years, Linda Barton; sons, Billy Barton (Laura), Michael Barton (Jeanie), Steve Barton (Victoria), and Chris Barton (Cheralyn); daughter, Teressa LaCaze (Bo); sister, Annie Helen Banta; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Barton, Stephen Barton, Logan LaCaze, Jeramey Barton, Cody Barton, and Cesar Dominguez. Honorary pallbearers include Anthony Barton, Dylan Ates, Dakota Simmons, Gary Banta, James Lee Corley, and Braiden Barton.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home on Saturday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Darren Fitzgerald and Rev. Lamar Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Brown Cemetery.
